The scout group were given a plot of land on a private residence to use and improve as an allotment - the following pictures give an idea of the progress

we had a great deal to sort out. Major weeding and clearing of the area we want to grow vegitables - which required some big bonfires to get rid of the rubbinsh.
There are some extremly good fruit trees already on the plot - including gooseberrys, red currents,black currents and some apple trees. This year we planted some brussel sprouts (which the local deer ate) and some leeks - which they seem to have avoided. We have also cleared some of the old fencing and replaced with a new car park sign and fence posts to hold up the metal railings to the car park. We have also planted som box tree saplings to provide new hedging along the roadway. |
